Nordic Track Skier machines mimic the movements of outdoor cross-country skiing.

The popularity of some exercise machines can be faddish, but the Nordic Track skiing machines have remained popular with consumers for over 20 years. By simulating the movements of cross-country skiing, the Nordic Track Skier lets you simultaneously burn calories, get a great cardiovascular workout and exercise your arms and legs. Active people with joint problems and bad knees also appreciate the low-impact nature of Nordic Track Skier workouts.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Instructions

  • 1

Place an exercise mat on the floor where you will be setting up your machine. This is to protect the flooring underneath. Lay the folded ski machine on the mat.

  • 2

Remove the skis from the machine and raise the upright tube upwards, about 1 1/2 feet from its packing position. Lift the front end of the machine and rest it on the back of the base. The base of the machine and the hip-pad should form a tripod.

  • 3

Place one of the included washers on each of the included 3/8-inch bolts.

  • 4

Align the holes of the leg assembly with the holes in the front frame, insert the bolts through the aligned holes with the bolt heads faced outward and tighten them with the provided wrench.

  • 5

Slide the leg into the leg assembly section of the machine, and set the elevation of this assembly to the second set of holes from the bottom.

  • 6

Secure the assembly in place with the provided easy-lock pin. Repeat with the other leg.

  • 7

Lower the ski exerciser to the floor and raise the arm exerciser until its’ snap buttons lock into place. Tighten the hip-pad knobs now if they aren’t already tightened.

  • 8

Loosen the upright tube knob, raise the upright tube slightly and place your hand on top of the upright tube. Begin pushing the tube down into the upright-tube support until it is adjusted to the height you desire.

  • 9

Tighten the knob on the upright-tube. Pivot the hip pad down as far as possible.

  • 10

Attach the electronic monitor per the separate set of instructions included with your machine. This device will display exercise duration, virtual distance traveled, calories burned and your pulse while you exercise.

  • Tips & Warnings

    • Make sure that there is enough clearance between the underside of the machine and your floor for the flywheel to rotate. There should be at least a 1/2-inch clearance between the floor and the flywheel.
