How to Catch Australian Cobbler Fish
The Australian Cobbler — Cnidoglanis Macrocephalus — is a popular recreational catch for Australian fishermen. Primarily a freshwater fish, the Cobbler is found in estuaries and shallow coastal waters. The species, also commonly known as the Estuary Catfish or South Australian Catfish, is recognizable by its mottled blackish-gray scales and spiked crown. The best time to go fishing for Cobbler is at night, as this is when they feed.

- 1
Head for an estuary at dusk. If you decide to go fishing for Cobbler in coastal waters, they are most abundant near coral reefs or weeds.
- 2
Attach bait to your hook. Cobbler are not picky, they go after most bait. Crushed freshwater mussels are sometimes used — throwing a handful of mussels into the water will help attract Cobbler to your pitch.
- 3
Wait for a bite. Once a cobbler is on the hook, reel it in, giving it line occasionally to make sure that it becomes more securely attached to the hook.
